Week 1 of Student Teaching!

Week 1 of being in the school was definitely chaotic, confusing, and thrilling. It was a lot of getting to know the student as well as learning the schools policies. I took many physical notes on how the classroom ran each period, which day each special was on, and what they did during WIN time. I preferred to take notes physically so students didn't hear me typing away at my computer. I also thought that would be a distraction because I would have my computer out (I don't really bring it to school often.

I wasn't very nervous going into the building like I thought I would have been. I was excited along with so many thoughts of joy when the students were happy I was there. I learned a lot about how each student acted around a new person. It was good to see how they changed the second day because I wasn't exactly new for the entire day. It felt like I knew them for a month because we talked quite a bit.

Friday was probably the best day for me during this week. The students were full of energy, I was excited to come back, and best of all... it was Friday! The kids have extra recess time at the end of the day on Fridays so many students would work harder so they could go outside. I thought this idea was brilliant because it helps students focus more on meeting expectations. Overall, I loved my first week. The students were welcoming, my CT was helpful, and the entire staff at Colonial was happy to see another young aspiring teacher working hard to teach.
