       How does middle-level

philosophy affect curriculum?

Middle-level philosophy in my view is to prepare students from the future. Whether that be academically or for adult life. As middle level teachers, we help our students develop intellectually and personally. Were there every step of the way for their major life goals. The middle-level philosophy affects schools curriculum by creating meaningful learning. Students now get curriculum integration, creative activities, and advanced cultural learning. Within the curriculum, teachers can create activities for students to be engaged. They can also involve all religions into their lessons so each student feels included. When I become a teacher, I want to include everyone in each lesson. I want to make sure that each student knows that they are welcomed within my class. I also want to engage my students with fun activities such as gallery walks, stations, teaching different units to a group, etc. I think that keeping the students engaged and allowing them to learn things on their own is a great way for teachers to ensure their students are paying attention.
In the readings on the AMLE website, we read about different ways to integrate curriculum, create meaningful learning, how to incorporate  students into the curriculum, and removing imaginary boundaries around the curriculum. Reading these as a future teacher benefits my view on how to lesson plan. At Phoenix middle school specifically in Mr.Estice's room, he doesn't have many boundaries. He keeps a limit of what kind of things (mainly how far) can be talked about. Robert lets them communicate and educate others so they can see both sides of the view. Ive seen him allow the students to choose what they talk about next. He allows them to talk about the topics that not many schools would talk about. In this class, he allows full creativity and many critical conversations.
