What does it mean to be a professional middle-level educator?  What do you see in the field as far as professionalism from your teacher and others?

The Photo above is my best friend and I in 6th grade. I put this here because I think it shows how far I have come. From such a little person to an 18 year old with my associates degree. I see myself becoming more and more in touch with teaching that I cant wait to have my own students. Being a professional middle level educator can mean many different things. Firstly, It can mean that you literally have your teaching licenses. Or it can mean that you have gone through all the necessary steps to ensure you create a safe, fun, and creative learning environment for students that are growing. From what I have learned, Middle-level programs are created to help future students learn and understand the needs of middle schoolers. If we placed a 2nd grade teacher with an 8th grade class, that teacher would be lost. These students need someone who is skilled in their development or else these kids wouldn't get what they need. Having teachers skilled and mastered (or growing to mastery) teaching students who NEED them is an amazing thing. Teachers NEED to know how the middle school mind works and how they think so they can have a successful classroom.

In the edpuzzles, we learned that we should create some sort of smallness out of a big group. I think that creating small groups is an activity that most students like. Small group activities allow students to be creativity, use their Critical thinking skills, and they get to use communication within their groups. Like we did in class today. We had been assigned into smaller groups that allow us to work together to create the website and use our different thinking skills to plan with the other group. This project will be really fun and creative for all of us.

In the reading we read about professional learning and professional development in middle levels. The quality of the teacher determines the outcome of the students learning. If the teachers quality is low, then the chance the students are learning much is slim. If the quality of the teacher is high, well then the students are most likely in a great learning environment. I think that having the yearly checks with the principal and getting scored helps teachers decide what they need to grow on.

In my field placement, Robert showed how he gets scored (in class with everyone) and I thought that it was pretty cool. Also in the class, he teaches strong, informational stuff stays with the students. He allows them the opportunity to get the notes printed if they are having an off day which is amazing because not all teachers do not. He obviously passes his examinations because he's the most amazing teacher ever. He is so amazing with his students and I love the humor he has with them. He is truly inspiring to me as I am becoming a teacher!
